Nanga parbat Peak Expedition Overview
Nanga Parbat, standing at 8,126 meters, is the ninth highest mountain in the world and Pakistan’s second
tallest peak. The journey begins with a drive from Islamabad to Chilas via the scenic Karakoram Highway. From
Chilas, four jeeps will transport us to the villages of Tarashing or Tato, where we’ll start our trek toward
the next camp.
Camping beneath Nanga Parbat is truly unforgettable—it feels like resting under a sleeping giant. We’ll have
ample time to explore the base camp and enjoy stunning viewpoints around the area. Afterward, our journey
continues to Karimabad, the charming capital of the Hunza Valley. Here, we will plan hikes and excursions to
discover local highlights such as the Gilgit Bazaar and the impressive Utar Icefall.
The trekking paths we’ll follow are well-established and manageable. Walking to Fairy Meadows offers an easy
and pleasant trail. However, the optional trek to Nanga Parbat’s base camp will be a longer, more demanding
day. Similarly, another challenging hike awaits above Karimabad, ascending steeply to the meadows beneath
Ultar Peak. This part of the tour involves significant elevation gain but includes breaks to rest and take in
the breathtaking landscape.
