Astore District is strategically located in the Gilgit-Baltistan region and shares its borders with several important areas. To the north lies Gilgit District, while to the northeast is Roundu District. On the eastern side, it borders Skardu District, and to the southeast, it meets Kharmang District. To the west, Astore is adjacent to Diamer District. The district also touches the Neelum region of Azad Jammu and Kashmir in the southwest, and to the south, it shares a boundary with Bandipore District, which falls under Indian-administered Jammu and Kashmir.

Drive to Astore valley (4hrs). Drive along Astore River through villages, stop at Astore Bazaar. Jeep drive to Rama via non-metalled road. Visit Rama Lake (walk may be required). Night stay in Rama or Astore.
Morning walk near Polo ground. Early drive to Deosai Plateau (cross Bara Pani). Picnic lunch at Deosai National Park. Stop at Sheosar Lake and Sadpara Lake/Dam. Night stay in Skardu.
Drive to Shangrila Resort. Visit Upper Kachura Lake. Drive through Cold Desert to Shigar. Visit Shigar Fort (lunch). Optional hike to Kharpocho Fort. Night stay in Skardu.
Visit Ghanche district. Explore Sailing village and Haji Mushtaq Fish Farm. Visit Khaplu, Chaqchan Mosque, and Khaplu Fort. Drive to Kharmang and visit Manthoka Waterfalls. Night stay in Skardu.
Drive toward Islamabad via Babusar Pass (if open) or KKH. Night stay in Naran, Kaghan, or Besham depending on road condition and route.
